Word window punch & big buckle cards

Sorry nothing to show today as yet as I've been making a big buckle card with my new SU word window punch and I can't show it as it's for the Tilda & Co challenge on Sunday. They are really easy to do and if I have time I might make another one and show you that instead. Mind you I am busy today. Shopping this afternoon and then I have parent's evening for my eldest daughter who is in the 6th form. A nice 1 hour there and 1 hour back trip!!!

And here is my card. I flipped the sketch by turning it to the right. I haven't used this stamp for a long time but it's so cute that I thought I'd give it an airing!!

If you'd like to have a go at the Ismaki challenge you can find the blog here.

Hanglar & Anglar

Looking at my live traffic feed I see quite a few people from other countries visit my blog. What I'm wondering is...... would anyone like to swap images with me? I'd really like some of the Hanglar images, if anyone has them. I have lots of Magnolia stamps that I could send images of in return.

Tilda & Edwin in the leaves

This is what I have been working on today. It took me awhile to do as there was quite a bit of colouring and arranging to do. All the papers used are Basic Grey "Mellow". The leaves are cut out with my cricut. Brilliant piece of kit as it cut the leaves out at 3/4" perfectly.
I also used some glossy accents to highlight certain parts and diamond stickles for the wings.

Here is a close up photo of the leaves cut out with the Cricut and the Accent Essentials catridge.

Papers:- Basic Grey "Mellow"
Stamps:- Magnolia
Leaves:- Cricut Accent Essentials cartridge

Well I succumbed!!! I've ordered 11 new Magnolia stamps. Now it's just the wait for them!! That's my budget gone for the next 2 months then. You can see a preview of the new ones here

http://magnoliainspiration.wordpress.com/

Mmm I forgot I've also got a bundle of 12x12 papers to come too .

Weigh In Day

Morning,
well not as good as last week but I expected that. I lost 1 1/2 lbs this week. I got a lovely surprise this morning DH came back from UK with lots of goodies. Goodies as in Weight Watcher food. Blimey you lot sure are spoilt in the UK, we can only get WW soup (2 flavours) WW ready meals (again about a choice of 2) and if we are lucky some WW yoghurts. Couldn't believe the stuff Rob came home with really nice ready meals, cakes and desserts. It should make this diet a lot easier now!! (fingers crossed). :-)

Tilda & Co Challenge # 3

So this week's challenge on the Tilda & Co Challenge blog is "shiny silver". I decided to make a kick stand card for this one (surprise surprise!). I used a GoGoGreetings kit for this card. The shiny silver bit is the flower in the top left hand corner. There are some beautiful pieces of work done by my fellow DT members, why don't you take a look here
Why not have a go yourself?

Papers & embellies:- GoGo Greetings monthly kit

Storing my Magnolias & Nellies

Someone asked me how I store my stamps, so here is my way of doing it. (edited:- ok I lied this is Rob's idea of doing it!).
I bought these two CD cases so I could use them to store my Magnolias and Nellies.
Inside there are hanging double sided pockets.

The first pocket is an index. I put the unmounted stamp and an image inside each of the double sided pockets.

Door Hanger

Today's make is a Summer Tilda Door Hanger. I used the Tag, Bag & Boxes cricut cartridge to make the hanger shape. I then used different Urban Lily papers to decorate it and of course some Magnolia stamps. The die cuts ie. the flower and stems are from the Accent Essentials cartridge.
I used some 3D foam pads for one of the stems, Tilda and the fence to make them stand out a little bit.
Tilda and the fence were coloured in using prismas and zest it.

Stamps:- Magnolia
Papers:- Urban Lily
Die Cuts:- Cricut cartridges - Tags, Bags & Boxes and also Accent Essentials

Tilda Matchbox

I've not used my Cricut Expression much so I thought I'd give it a "run out". I made this little Tilda Matchbox with the Cricut Tags, Bags & Boxes cartridge. To open it I added a little brad and a piece of ribbon. I made some Magnolia ATCs for the DT that I'm on , so I think I'll keep them in here.

Stamps:- Magnolia
Papers:- Sassafras Lass
Matchbox:- Cricut Tags, Bags & Boxes cartridge
Scallops:- Cricut Mini Monogram cartridge

Kick Stand Card

Here is a different style of card called a " kick stand" card. I finally got to use some of the images that I coloured in a while ago.

This photo shows the card standing up and you can see why it's called a kick stand card.

(sorry about the quality of the photo the first one I could scan and the second I had to use my camera. I'm not the best photographer).

Papers:- Basic Grey

Stamps:- Hamish, Maggie and Angus and text stamp is SU.

Die Cuts:- Scallops - Cricut mini monograms and swirls - Quickutz flourish

Whippersnapper images

I made this card this morning with one of the whippersnapper images that Carla sent me. (Thanks Carla). The papers are from a Go Go Create kit that I had ages ago. The image is coloured in with prismas and odourless spirit.
Papers:- Heidi Grace
Stamps:- Whippersnapper, text is SU
Die Cuts:- Scallop from Cricut mini monograms & flowers from Cricut stretch your imagination.

ATCs

Now this is unusual for me , making "serious" ATCs. I used to make them all the time and have a blog with them all on, but then went back to cardmaking, but I had the urge to make some last night. So here they are. Maybe it's because I made the Tilda ones for the challenge. (see below).

For you Fab :-) I used TH distress inks for the backgrounds and a judikins cube stamp. The man stamp is from Paperartsy "man of numbers" plate and the shoe stamp , sorry not too sure about that one. Hope this helps.

Weigh in day

Woohoo the first weigh in today and I've lost.......

4 pounds!!! :-)

I always lose a bit the first week and then it's a hard slog for the rest of the diet!!! Just got to keep motivated now.

Tilda & Co Challenge #2 - Numbers

For the Tilda & Co challenge this week the theme was numbers. So here are the two items I made for the DT. The first is a 5th birthday card for my daughter who will be 5 in March and the second is a set of ATCs.
For the card I used my Sarah's monthly card kit, this one was December's.

For my ATC's I just used up scrap bits of paper. For the numbers I used my cricut.
All the Magnolia images are coloured in with prismas and zest it.

Why not have a go at the challenge? All you need to do is make an item using a Magnolia stamped image and have at least one number on it. You can find the challenge here

A Quick Make

I got this little plastic clip in a Xmas cracker and kept it, thinking I'd do something with it. Well I had a spare 10 minutes so I coloured in a Tilda image, a scallop and then attached the clip to them.

Viola, a clip to keep all those little bits of paper together.
Lol told you it was a quickie!!

Friday Fiver

1. Where do you like to walk?
In the countryside, there are some beautiful places to walk here in Germany. But if I was near a beach it would be there.
2. What does your hair look like?
A mess. I take medication and it's made my hair so thin :-(. It's a dark blonde and tied back into a ponytail for ease.
3. What are you jealous of?
People who find it easy to make beautiful cards. :-)
4. What kind of promises do you make?
Only ones I think I can keep.
5. What makes you stare?
People who are blatantly doing something stupid or cruel.

Day One in the Nettleship house

Okay so I need to go on a diet. How stupid am I? Last January I went on a diet and lost over 2 stone, now I've put it all back on again. I'm a yoyo dieter, eat lots in Winter and then panic in January when I realise how big I'll look in Summer. So day one of the diet is today. I'm sticking with the weightwatchers points one. There are no meetings over here in Germany so I'll be doing it on my own , well not so much on my own as DH is doing it too. I'm thinking about doing a journal too but don't know if I will keep it up. I've seen some great ideas on UKS. So wish me luck!!!

Friday Fiver

I found this blog from another blog I came across. It's just a fun thing to answer five questions they give , different ones every Friday. Here's the link

1. What's your favorite shape?

A circle, no ending and I had reference to a circle in my wedding vows.

2. Who is the craziest person you know?

Robbyn my 4 year old, she is so full of energy and makes crazy faces.

3. Sweet, salty or savory?

Sweet, hence the start of a diet on Monday!

4. Best ice cream topping?

Mmm so many, think my fav is maple syrup.

5. Do you ride horses?

No, but I'd love to ride one along a beach.

Why not have a go and leave a comment so I can have a look at your answers. :-)

Friday, 4 January 2008

And some Nellie's.

Once the kids are back at school I'll be able to make some cards with them!
