Valentines

The kids are engrossed in their CBeebies Art mag so I had a chance to make this. Valentine's Day will soon be creeping up on us, so I got an early start. Here is the card I made.

I can't find the name of the papers, sorry they came in a monthly kit but I do know that the sentiment and die cut are from the same company. Not that that's much help is it? The strip across the centre has been punched with a Martha Stewart punch and I attached a ribbon across the middle. The image is from Alota stamps and is called simply "monkey". They've been coloured in with promarkers. I've layered it onto a nestabilitie circle and stencilled some hearts onto it with chalk inks.

I am having major trouble with my computer today it is really slow and making a funny clicking noise so if I disappear for a couple of days it's because Rob will probably have to take it apart and see what's up with it.

Happy New Year to everybody and I hope it is a great one for you all. xx

House Mouse & Friends Challenge

I haven't been able to take part in this challenge for a while but as it is running for two weeks I made time!!

The challenge was to use embossing on your item.

So for this one I used a blank white DL card turned on it's side. I embossed the whole of the card with a cuttlebug embossing folding. I then added the papers which are from K& Co. To tie in with the papers I did a herringbone stitch around the card edges with a turquoise thread. I also embossed the strip of paper across the middle with a border cuttlebug embossing folder. I received the House Mouse image from Michelle O, thanks Michelle. x I coloured it in with promarkers and then added stickles to the "water and bubble" bits. I layered it onto the same paper and then adhered it to the card with 3D pads. The photo corners are an Ellison thin cut die.

As always the DT's work is outstanding again. Absolutely gorgeous creations. Why not have a look and join in? You can find the blog here

Alota Book Mark

I made this for my little girl as she wanted a book mark for the new books she received at Christmas. She likes pink and girly.

I used some papers from a Forever Friends birthday pad. I embossed a strip using a cuttlebug flower folder and then added the pink gems to the centres. And also added the pink gingham ribbon. The image is from Alota stamps and is called "Ballerina Bug". Isn't she cute? I coloured her in with promarkers and some sakura pens. I made an aperture window and placed her in it.

I have no idea what is wrong with my camera, not too sure if it is the time of year , it being dull or it's the actual camera and someone has been mucking about with the buttons.

Another Happy New Year

Today it is Alota's turn to be on show. Here is my Alota Happy New Year card.

Sorry my photos aren't that good it is very dark here.

I've used a new Alota stamp called "New Year Hat". I've coloured it with promarkers and a range of Sakura pens. I made a border around the image using my Scor-Pal. All the papers are from gcd studios and are called Schooled. The decorative border is made with a Martha Stewart punch. The sentiment has been made on the computer.

Happy New Year

Here is a New Year's card that I made with another of my new In Style Stamps. So today meet "Marti".
I've used GCD Studio papers for this one and they are called Carnival Ride. The borders have been punched with a Martha Stewart punch. The image has been stamped and then I paper pieced her clothes and shoes, for the skin, hair etc I used promarkers. I finished off the card with a ribbon and some Making Memories rub ons.

Another Leanne Ellis stamp

As I only had a little bit of time I made an ATC with another Leanne Ellis stamp. Here it is

I piled sooo much on it. First of all I used a pad of grungy papers to cover the blank ATC and then I sanded the edges and run over them with a distress ink. I tore some more paper from the same pad and added bits to the top and bottom. I inked through some sequin waster to make the circles with a red TH distress ink. I used a clock and text stamp to add some dimension using the same red ink. On went the black border which I again sanded. I then stamped the buttons with black stazon ink. Still following me??? ;0). The Leanne Ellis stamp called Luvvie, she is called Annie, from the Sugar Nellie range was stamped onto watercolour paper with black stazon and then coloured in with TH distress inks. I cut her out leaving a little border around her which I then filled in with paper distress ink. I layered her onto some of the same paper that I used for the background and then just tore around her and inked the edges. Lastly I made the sentiment love with a tape machine.

The Leanne Ellis stamp can be bought from Funky Kits.

Sugar Nellie - Leanne Ellis

A while ago I bought the gorgeous Leanne Ellis set of stamps from Sugar Nellie. But I've only got round to using one of them at the weekend.

Here is a card I made using the "Wish" stamp.

I coloured the image in with promarkers but it looked too "new" so I went over the image with distress inks and a sponge and then added the number stamp over the top. All the papers are called Fleuriste from Cosmo Cricket. I then sponged them with distress and adirondak inks and a script background stamp. I wanted to get a distressed look. The punched strip is made with a Martha Stewart punch. I also added ribbon, lace and some blooms. For the centre of the blooms I used some gorgeous spacers that Michelle sent me. (thanks Michelle).

I think I've achieved the look I wanted. :0)

Sketch Saturday

I had a little time to make this at the weekend for the Sketch Saturday challenge blog. I think it is my last Christmas card now, well hopefully!!

Here is the sketch

And here is my card
I was determined to use my new CC Design little winter set that I had won off Annie before it was too late!! So I used two of the stamps, the main image and the sentiment. I coloured in the image with promarkers and then stamped a background with a clear stamp snowflake. All the papers are from Basic Grey - Dashing. The ribbon , pearls and tree charm are from my stash.

In Style Stamps

Today meet "Roxy"! She is one of the seven brand new stamps from a new company called In Style Stamps.
Roxy comes unmounted with cling cushion mount. I've coloured her skin and hair with promarkers but then I paper pieced her outfit and shoes using the same papers as the background. The papers and the tag are from a HOTP sarapapers pad called Retro. Ideal for Roxy I think. I then added the ribbon and punched out some flowers with the papers and added a gem to each of the middles. The "groovy", flowers and heart and "it's your day enjoy it" are all rub ons. I then just added the lines of pink gems.

Now I've shown you Suzie Q and Roxy I still have 5 more girls to introduce you to. Keep watching! ;0)

Alota Christmas Scene

Sometimes you have to make a card that isn't too cutesy. And this is one I made for an older couple.

I used another new Alota stamp called Christmas Room. It has been coloured with promarkers, gold pen and a clear star pen. I then layered that onto some cs. The little bug has been stamped, coloured and then cut out. He originally didn't have a santa hat but I found another stamp with one on and cut that out for him. He was then put onto the scene with 3D pads. The papers and sentiment are all from a HOTP Christmas pad. I then added the gold cord which came off bubble bath set. Not too cutesy?

Cute Card Thursday

This is our last challenge for the a Cute Card Thursday blog for 2008 but we will be back on the 8th January. So this week's theme is an open theme.

I chose Christmas again as this is what I still need to be making!!

Here is my card
I've use Papermania Naughty or Nice papers and highlighted the Santa with a white highligther pen. The image is a new stamp from Alota called Holiday Stockings. It has been coloured with promarkers. I added the ribbon and put a rub on sentiment onto it. I then added the little resting bug who was again coloured with promarkers. He is also from Alota stamps.

I know everyone is busy, busy but why not try to have a break and have a go at this week's challenge? You can find all the details here

In Style Stamps

Well here it is my first card made with a brand new In Style stamp.

This is one of the seven new stamps from In Style stamps. She is called Suzie Q. Isn't she great, really modern and so girly. I've stamped her onto a nestabilitie rectangle and coloured her in with promarkers. I added some glaze to her glasses too. I punched a hole in the top left hand corner and threaded through the peach spotty ribbon. I then added the light blue gems. All the papers are from Autumn Leaves and are called Whirlygig. The top and bottom strips have been punched with a Martha Stewart border punch. I layered up some blooms and used a brad for the centre. The sentiment has been computer generated and I added some of the same peach ribbon to the top.

You can now see and order all seven stamps from here. Don't you just love Roxy? I can't wait to get her, she should be here real soon. I have plans for her.
There are going to be lots of new stamps out real soon so keep watching.

AWOL

Sorry I've not shown anything just lately but I managed to pick up the kids sickness bug. Not nice at all. I have a card made with the new In Style stamp , Suzie Q which I'll show you later when I've got myself together. Robbyn was the first to get the bug, she got over that by passing it on to Tyrrell but she now has a raging temperature. It always happens this time of year. Last year she was in hospital with a virus. Hopefully none of the other two kids or DH will get it , fingers crossed. See you later!

A commisioned card

A work colleague of Rob's asked if I could make his wife a Christmas card from him, not too sloppy though. So I immediately thought of this Alota stamp called Bug's kissing/bulb. Can you tell I love the bugs?

I've used a paper set from Stampin Up called I Wish and added a few gems. So for the image I stamped out two of the images and coloured all of one of the images in with promarkers. I then cut out the bugs and ribbon with mistletoe from the second image and coloured them in with promarkers and a little clear star pen. I then adhered them to the whole image with 3D foam pads to give them a little depth. I printed the sentiment out on the computer. I hope she likes it!!

Exciting News

I have been accepted for a brand new stamp company to be a Design Team member. The company is called "In Style Stamps" and is run by Virginia. Great modern stamps and just right for colouring in with your favourite medium. The first set of 7 stamps will be available on the 19th December. You can read all about the In Style stamps here

I'm sure you are going to love them with names like Suzie Q , Roxy and some others you just know they are going to be cute. Roxy is great , wait till you see her!! I'll be showing you a preview of Suzie Q real soon.

Virginia also has a contest running at the moment with some gorgeous candy worth over a massive $150.00. All the details are here.

It has been coloured with promarkers and a clear star pen. The sentiment comes from a new set called Merry Christmas. I have used two different Martha Stewart punches , one down the right hand side and the other for the square layer which the image sits on. The four snowflakes in the corners are also from a punch. To embellish the card I added the tassel which is held on with a snowflake brad and a red bow on the image.

Tilda & Friends ATC Challenge

This week's theme over on the Tilda & Friends ATC challenge blog is

Frosty Nights

Brrrr it's getting chilly out of doors and even here in Cornwall we have had
some Frosty nights! This week, in addition to the Frosty theme, we are also
looking for someone to join the team as a Guest Designer for the month of
January. So if you would like to be considered, please add GD to your comments
along with a link to your ATC.

Here is mine

I covered a blank ATC with the frosty paper from the Dovecraft Winter Wonderland pad. I then used my new Martha Stewart punch to make a decorated edge. I then coloured in the Winter Tilda with promarkers and adhered her to the ATC. I then covered the whole ATC with versamark and sprinkled on clear UTEE. Heated it up until it was smooth and then repeated this three times. I quickly put it into the freezer for 10 minutes. When I took it out I bent the ATC to make it crack in places. I thought it might look frosty and icy but you can't see it very well on the pic.

The DT have made some lovely ATCs if you would like to have a look and join in you can find the details here

I don't know if any of you know but we have an Alota group on the Paper Craft Planet forum. I have designed a sketch for a challenge in this group. My first sketch, so go easy on me. And here is my card I made using the sketch.

For the main image I have used all Alota stamps. The house background is a new stamp called Winter Home. The bears have been cut out and I have used 3D pads to adhere them to the side of the house image. The holly is also from Alota stamps and has been adhered with 3D pads also. The images have all been coloured in with promarkers and a little bit of sakura clear star pen for sparkle. All the papers and cardstock are from a Stampin Up set called I wish. A really gorgeous set. The sentiment is from Alota too and is from a Christmas sayings set.

House Mouse Monday Challenge

This week's theme on the House Mouse Monday Challenge was Glitter/Glitz.

No card from me but a Xmas ornament.

I got the idea for this from the Scor-Pal site. It has been made out of a sheet of Stampin Up paper from a set called "I wish". They are each little cones and the insides have been glittered. The HM image has been coloured in with promarkers and some stickles put on his "fur" bits of his hat. The scalloped circle has been edged with a sakura clear star pen too, to make even more glitz!! And I have just punched a hole in the top cone and threaded it with a red ribbon. I have to admit there were a few choice words said when I was making it but I think it came out ok in the end!!

As always the DT on the House Mouse challenge have made some gorgeous cards. They really outdo themselves every week. If you would like to see and take part you can find the blog here
